Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001) IMDB rating: 6.40 Plot: In the year 2065, the next great assault against an invading race of phantom-like aliens is about to be launched. Dr. Aki Ross, a brilliant young scientist, races to find the invaders’ secrets, not only to save the planet, but herself as well after her body is infected by alien particles. Questions on the Final Fantasy movies?
Is Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within different from Final Fantasy: VII Advent Children? I guess that my question is are these two movies related or are they from the same series? I have seen Spirits Within but the characters seem completely different and the events in the movie also seem very different judging by the preview for Advent Children. Cloud the main character but Cloud isn’t even in Spirits Within. Was it just a coincidence that the names of them both are Final Fantasy?

the spirits within was the final fantasy team attempt at making a movie it has nothing 2 do with there game series. final fantasy always change the story in there games i.e there r no ff7 charachters in ff8 orr any ff8 charachters in ff10. the only exception is advent children that follows on from ff7

The Spirits Within isn’t a real FF movie. No mention of any of the characters at all from the FF universe.

Advent Children is a continuation of the FFVII game. If I’m not mistaken.

This movie is a Final Fantasy movie, but we could say perhaps a different story or dimension. As do all final fantasy games, they are all different from eachother with huge time/age differences and different characters and totally different stories from eachother. Read up on final fantasy games and you’ll see they are all not really connected to eachother story-wise.
