Do the identity struggles of the minority coincide with those of the majority?

As a minority, I reason that those who make up the majority [race] have a larger base of ‘roles’ they are able to identify with that make the society I find myself in go round.

The ability to realize those roles is another (albeit enduring, universal) matter…

As a minority, the pleasure is mine in ‘naturally’ shaping the impact of my role–as a Filipino–in uncharted territory.

However, those whom are represented in popular media–mostly Whites and Blacks–posit demands on the corresponding audience that ’seems’ unnatural, contrived, or sold.

I’ve never met hippies before moving here but we vibe…if you’ve ever been in a hippie’s home, they make their homes like an island that hasn’t sunken into American branding…as much as I would like to live like I had been among other island people, hippie’s and African Americans are like a different kinda island people but with no water around ‘em.

…although talking about politics and local news is almost always a topic of conversation, remember to remind another that the news, too, is sold. Understanding this will almost certainly remind an otherwise pleasant hippie to shut it (because as much as I try to naturally shape my identity in this martian world, hippies and friends try to stay afloat the unnatural-ness of corporate America).
